Made by hand in Frankfort, Kentucky by La Soucique Studio
This simple, twisted design is perfect to hold your favorite beach top knot or french twist. We call them our Brass People because every one made is unique, just like the people we love. We've hammered each hair fork to make it slightly faceted and somewhat flexible but also able to bounce back, making it both functional and decorative to securely hold your hair in a bun or twist. The standard fork measures appx. 5 inches with a width of appx 1" at the widest point.
About the artist:
I am in the studio as a second generation silversmith, creating with sustainability and simplicity in mind. My passion is in traditional hand-forging techniques and the use of found and recycled objects, like seaglass with recycled and sustainable metals. Working in the smallest environmental footprint possible is paramount to me and I think that these materials demonstrate the true spirit of Sustainability! Each piece is fabricated in my formerly coastal Florida studio but thanks to Covid-19, I have relocated to the beautiful Kentucky bluegrass region of Frankfort. I remain committed to our zero-waste studio and I emphasize that I use only beach or seaglass that has been naturally tumbled by the environment in which it was found, keeping the raw, organic shapes of our seaglass or ethical stones as unprocessed as possible. Ask how I can create seaglass pieces with your own (or a client's) collection, or from a certain area of the world!
