Handmade in Seattle, Washington by Rebekah J. Designs
We take so many different paths throughout the day. From mother, to wife, to employee, to small business owner and all the ones in-between. This was created as a reminder that at the end of the day everything comes full circle and, even though I may feel I'm not completely honoring or appreciating each of those paths, I can see that I've done my best which is all I can ask for. The vertical patterns at the bottom of the circle represent the back and forth between my daily requirements. The main horizontal line representing the linear goal of my day and the half circle on the top reminding me to look at the big picture. The back side includes a dotted meandering "trail" which is where I often can find the peace to look at the big picture and let the minutiae quiet. This two-sided necklace layers fantastically with the other pieces in this collection. Hand carved and lost wax cast in brass. Hangs on a coordinating 14k gold-fill chain.
About the artist:
I create jewelry for the sentimentalist. The objects I create are imbued with the sentiment behind the moments that we want to remember, the people we love, and the tokens of life that make us grateful and give us goosebumps. When you wear my jewelry on your skin you will remember everything it symbolizes in you. Your strength. Your resilience. Your power. The aim of my work is to bring meaning & intentionality to everyday jewelry, by blending elemental metals with modern textiles; and in doing so uniting an organic, wanderlust aesthetic where each piece tells a unique story inspired by life, motherhood, and travel. A California native, turned Seattle dweller, with a very diverse art background. I attended school for interior design, drawing & printmaking before finding metalsmithing where I developed a passion for geometry, asymmetry, and organic forms - which you'll find very visible in my work.
