About the artist:
tothemetal is a line of contemporary jewelry designed and handcrafted by Marina Lampropoulou.
She creates minimalist pieces in sterling silver, brass and titanium, with great attention to detail. Her jewelry, ranging from everyday to statement pieces, are subtle yet substantial, keeping comfort always in mind. Shifting from classic to modern, the pieces are designed with the aspiration of becoming one with the wearer, a familiar necessity.
The designs emerge from the study of architecture, painting, photography and fashion, which serve as a constant source of inspiration to Marina. Keeping an open eye for stimulus, nature also sparks her imagination with its perfection, intricacy and simplicity.
Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, Marina studied metalsmithing and jewelry design at the Mokume Institute. Upon graduation she established her own studio. She began collaborating with art galleries and selected shops internationally, in London, Tokyo, Berlin, Sydney, the historic art gallery Zita Mi in Thessaloniki, the B & M Theocharakis Foundation in Athens. Her jewelry has been adorned by men and women in over 70 countries worldwide. Her work has been featured in the British Vogue, in Metalsmithing for Jewelry Makers by Jinks McGrath, and numerous fashion blogs.
