On the occasion of the exhibition, Principle of Equivalence, Kemper Museum commissioned capsule collections by six local artists inspired by the work and career of Virginia Jaramillo for the Museum Shop. Each artist drew inspiration from different aspects of Jaramillo's practice and created original works that respond in their own artistic voices.

One Size Fits All, Satin & Denim

Handmade in Kansas City, Missouri, by Whitney Manney.

About the artist:

The label WHITNEYMANNEY is known for mixing innovative textile designs with unique ready-to-wear shapes to stay true to its aesthetic. Function and wearability are the main priority for the label, as the new collection will push the envelope of traditional women's ready-to-wear, taking it into the realm of wearable art.

A Kansas City, MO native, Whitney Manney graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2012 with a BFA in Fibers. With a desire to create art in a wearable format, Manney creates garments and textile designs under her independent label WHITNEYMANNEY.  Creating a narrative between color and pattern is a signature of Manney's work, "My job isn't done until everybody in the world believes fashion is art"
