The Sunflower Socks

Regular price $14.00

Artist: Gustav Klimt Created: 1907 Dimensions (cm): 110 x 110 Format: oil on canvas Location: Private Collection Sunflower has an unequivocal Klimt magic in its ethereal sparkles and contours. The triangular composition, resembling some of his most famous works, has led many to believe it is a metaphor for a portrait of his life companion, Emilie Flöge. Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian symbolist and the leader of the art nouveau group Vienna Secession. Artistically gifted from a young age, he made a living as a painter of architectural decorations before developing his own very unique style. Many of his work was centred around the female form - even being considered somewhat pornographic in his time - and extensive use of metallic gold in his palette of colour.
